Apparently the game uses PC's internal clock mechanism, and restarting the PC is necssary for some arcane reason.Since I've gotten the game, I've had basically unbearable lag and fps drops, particularly in towns and outdoor locations, and I wasn't able to figure out why. They were competing against Oblivion at the time, which may have influenced their decision to up the graphics game by any means available (even if impractical).Īlso. For some asinine reason the Neverwinter Nights 2 developers thought doing this waaaay back in the day was a fantastic idea! Very few games, even today, have objects illuminated by multiple light sources cast multiple shadows because the performance impact can quickly become absurd under numerous circumstances. Even in 2020, the Neverwinter Nights series remain unparalleled. Ive seen others say similar things regarding bugs/glitches and the framerate. I dont immediately believe anything on that site without question or anything but I like their reviews and the look of the website so thats where I check if possible. I mean seriously, you do not see games render multiple shadows for objects when multiple light sources are involved! The only recent game I can think of that might do this, is Guild Wars 2 and maybe some source port engines for games like Quake, Hexen, DOOM, Descent etc. Ive heard that there were some performance issues in a review that I read on Nintendo Life.

I'll have to disable that setting next time I play because thankfully the devs put in an option to make objects only cast a single shadow regardless of the number of light sources affecting it.
